Weaver’s Orchard Twilight At-Market Workshop offers farm tour, discussion on business success factors

Commercial fruit and vegetable growers, market managers, agritourism business operators, and any farm manager or owner looking to network, are invited to attend the Twilight At-Market Workshop at Weaver’s Orchard on July 19.

The Penn State Extension and the Pennsylvania Vegetable Growers Association will host this workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weaver’s Orchard, 40 Fruit Lane, Morgantown.

The focus of the workshop is business success factors. During a farm tour with market manager, Anita Harrison, and owner, Ed Weaver, several business aspects of the orchard and farm market will be discussed including pricing products for profit in turbulent times, staffing challenges, and creating dazzling market displays. Participants will also learn from owners and staff about the farm’s humble beginnings up to its current status.

Established in 1930s, Weaver’s Orchard Inc. celebrates its 90th year in business in 2022, with Ed Weaver at the helm since the 1990s. Weaver’s Orchard has a pick-your-own fruit operation, a wholesale division, and a recently expanded farm market. Weaver’s also hosts family-friendly agriculture experiences and events on the farm. Ed Weaver and several family members currently run the farm. Their vision is to “grow our fruit with your health in mind.”

This evening workshop is being offered free of charge. Light refreshments will be available.
