An olive oil imported by a Berks County company has been named one of the best in the world.
Ciccio’s Olives’ extra virgin olive oil earned silver at the New York International Olive Oil Competition, the largest and most prestigious olive oil quality contest in the world.
The oil is produced by Fratelli Pugliano in Calabria, Italy, and imported by Ciccio’s Olives in Leesport.
“Ciccio’s Olives is not just a product, it’s a dream for a small family of farmers to achieve success in producing, bottling and exporting a pure, authentic, unadulterated extra virgin olive oil,” Laura Pugliano, co-owner of Ciccio’s Olives, said. “Once we recognized that we had all the right pieces in place to share this liquid gold with the U.S. market, we felt it our responsibility to do so.
“Achieving the silver award at the 2022 NYIOOC solidifies our commitment to educate consumers and foster farm-to-table traceability with a product that can improve health and wellness for all.”
