PARKESBURG—It was standing room only when Animated Brewing Co. officially threw open its doors for the first time on the day before Thanksgiving.
The 1,000 square foot roadside taproom, at 306 W. First Ave., hosts 35 seats inside, and serves 40 different styles of craft beers, through 12 taps. The beer is brewed at the original Animated location in Coatesville.
Owners Jared Castaldi, Steve Orsborn and Patrick Shannon are excited with the new venture.
“We’re working with beer,” Castaldi said. “How can you not be having fun?
“And we have the best beer in Chester County.”
Orsborn noted that the brewery is centrally located on a busy road and in a walkable town.
“it’s a place for neighbors to meet,” Orsborn said.
“It’s a watering hole spot, a get-together spot,” he said.
“We are having a blast,” Shannon said.
Orsborn has watched traffic whiz by and expects that Animated will get noticed..
“So many cars pass by here,” Orsborn said.
The brew house will soon feature a food truck serving Mexican fare, including tacos, nachos and burritos.
Parkesburg Mayor John Hagan visited the roadside taproom on opening day.
He remembered when the Animated building was a gas station during the ’60s and local kids filled their bike tires with free air.
“This is beautiful for our town,” he said about the new bar. “The demographics are there to support craft beers.
“I don’t think you’ll find anybody who had a bad experience getting a business up and running with current government.”
Animate also sells beer to go.
