Jobseekers will have an opportunity to meet with potential employers during a fall job fair and business expo being presented by MontcoWorks and PA CareerLink Montgomery County in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Montgomery County.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Plymouth Meeting Mall in Plymouth Township, Montgomery County.
This will be the second job fair held at the Plymouth Meeting Mall this year. In February, employers from a variety of industries welcomed more than 250 attendees at a similar event. The mall location allows career seekers to attend by car or by public transit.
“While Montgomery County has the second lowest unemployment rate in the commonwealth at 3.4%, that rate equates to 15,700 unemployed residents,” Jennifer Butler, executive director of MontcoWorks, said in a press release announcing the event. “We are excited to partner with the chamber to once again offer this venue for our employers who need workers to connect to these potential candidates who need work.”
MontcoWorks serves Montgomery County as the area’s workforce development board, providing market-driven information and services that align with regional and statewide workforce development planning, according to information on the organization’s website.
The Oct. 11 event will be free for job seekers. In the weeks leading up to the job fair and business expo, the event will be posted on the mall’s LED sign, with has more than 250,000 cars passing each week. Businesses and recruiters of all sizes are invited to participate in the event, which the chamber said will provide “additional reach and visibility” for participants, while giving them the opportunity to meet a “wide array of (job) candidates.” To register, employers can visit https://www.chambergmc.org/job-fair-business-expo/
During the event, employers will also have an opportunity to speak to representatives from PA CareerLink Montgomery County’s Business Services Team to learn more about free ongoing recruitment support as well as access to on-the-job training and incumbent worker training funds.
