MCCC hosting in-person and virtual career fair

BLUE BELL — Job seekers will have a chance to meet with potential employers during Montgomery County Community College’s (MCCC) Spring 2022 Career Fair. The event, scheduled for Thursday, April 14, offers attendees the choice of either in-person or online.

The on-campus portion will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Health Sciences Center atrium on MCCC’s Blue Bell campus. The virtual session will be from 4 to 6 p.m via Zoom.

“This event will be open to various employers and industries” said Takisha Mundy, Director of Career & Alumni Engagement. “The community is welcome. We encourage everyone to come.” The career fair is free to attend.

Participants do not need to register for either session, according to Mundy. She adds that attendees should be professionally dressed, have copies of their resumes and be prepared to also share resumes electronically.

During the day, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with potential employers at their individual tables.

Mundy said the evening career fair holds the same expectations regarding employers looking to hire. Those planning to attend the online event can find the link at www.mc3.edu/events.

“Guests will be welcomed in our main Zoom room and will have the opportunity to engage employers in breakout rooms,” she said in an emailed response to questions, adding that staff will be on-site/present at both events”to answer questions and provide guidance.”

Among the companies scheduled to participate as of Friday afternoon are: Walmart, Philadelphia Police Department, Fedex Ground, Bayada Home Health Care, Transportation Security Administration – Philadelphia, Allied Universal Security Services, George W. Hill Correctional Facility, Childcare Careers, Foundations Behavioral Health, Test Equity, LLC, Delaware County Sherriff’s Office, TruMark Federal Credit Union, HB Leisure, Primark USA Corp, Greater Philadelphia YMCA, CIMA Network, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, GSK and AON.

The Career Fair will be the culmination of the MCCC’s weeklong Spring 2022 Career Week. Events during the week include a “Lunchtime Live” on the @careerservicesmc3 Instagram account Monday, April 11, focusing on how to stand out in an interview.

On April 12, the Career and Alumni Engagement team will host an online career workshop “Career Fair Prep, Dress 4 Success,” from noon to 1 p.m.

“The focus will be how to prepare for the fair, what questions to ask, combating nerves and the elevator pitch,” Mundy added.

On Wednesday, April 13, the Career and Alumni Engagement team will host the Professional Dress Fashion Show watch party from noon to 2 p.m. in the Advanced Technology Center atrium at the Blue Bell campus.

Career coaches are available to help job seekers develop, evaluate and effectively initiate educational and career goals. Current students can make an appointment by calling the Student Success Center at 215-641-6577 or schedule online for Blue Bell and Pottstown campuses. Prospective students and MCCC alumni should contact the Career and Alumni Engagement Office to get started.
